The Margaritaville Resort Orlando

Located in Orlando, only 15 minutes from Disney Springs, Margaritaville Orlando Resort is a great escape from the busy theme parks and hot Orlando sun. In February, my husband and I visited this beautiful for a night. It’s still new, having only opened in January 2019.

Here are some of the high points:

1. The Grounds - The grounds are huge. There is the main hotel block plus their amenities (pools, restaurants, bars) and the cottages. The back of the hotel (where the pools are located) are on a lagoon and the cottages wind around that lagoon. There is also a water park, H2O live, and a shopping center, Sunset Walk, on the grounds.

2. Check in - At check in, you receive a welcome cocktail. If it’s before 4pm (check in time) you receive a voucher for welcome drinks that you can redeem at their onsite bars/restaurants. Also, instead of traditional room keys, you receive bracelets that act as your room key and opens your room doors. If you arrive before your room is ready, you’re issued a room key to use to access the pool areas. They also have a changing room available with lockers. Plus, you can check your bags in with the concierge.

3. All rooms are pool view rooms – That’s right, all rooms are pool view rooms! There are king and queen bed pool view rooms, one-bedroom suites, deluxe one-bedroom suites, and the presidential suite. We booked a pool view king bedroom but got upgraded to a deluxe one-bedroom suite! One perk of the hotel being sold out during our stay :)

4. Kids Welcome! – Most people assume that the Margaritaville Resort Orlando is an adults only resort, but families and kids are welcome! In fact, when we visited there was a good mix of families and adults.

5. Live music – This resort has live music everywhere. There was live music by the pool and pool bar during the afternoon and live music at the lounge at night. The main restaurant, Euphoria, is attached to the lounge so you can enjoy the music from there as well.

6. Buses to WDW - They have buses running to and from the Walt Disney World Transportation Station (at select times during the day) at no additional cost.

Deluxe One Bedroom Suite

As I mentioned, we had booked a pool view king bedroom but to our pleasant surprise we were upgraded to a Deluxe One Bedroom Suite at check in! The resort was sold out that night and most likely they overbooked their king bed category and we were lucky enough to get bumped up. This suite is massive. It contains a formal entrance, dining area and living room plus the separate bedroom with dressing area and bathroom with a water closet. But the standout feature of this suite is the balcony. The balcony runs the length of the entire suite but it’s actually 2 separate balconies. You can gain access to the first balcony from the formal entrance or living room. You access the second balcony from the bedroom. The first balcony features multiple seating areas including a table and chairs and comfy chairs. The second has lounge chairs. This was by far my favorite part of the suite. At night, it was a great place to have a drink looking over the pool (that’s lit up at night) and listen to the outdoor pool music. In the morning, it’s a great place for a coffee and to watch the sun waking up the resort.

At this resort, it’s always like 5 o’clock and the boat drinks are never far away! Wasting away in Margaritaville never felt so good.

Side Note:

As this resort is relatively new, there is still work to be done. The biggest thing you’ll notice is they’ve cleared the land past the lagoon all the way to the highway. This means as you overlook the pool and lagoon from your balcony, you get a prime view of the highway. I would say it has been cleared for future expansion, but we’ll have to wait and see!
