What To Pack in Your Disney Parks Bag

You’ve booked your vacation to Walt Disney World or Disneyland and now it’s time to plan. One of questions I get asked the most, especially by those new to the Disney parks experience, is what should I bring to the park with me?

Here are some of my must have item suggestions:

Pack:

  • Sunglasses

  • Sun screen and bug spray

  • Hand sanitizer/hand wipes (to clean your hands after the rides)

  • Zip lock bags (to put valuables in during water rides)

  • Granola bars, snacks (snacks that won’t melt easily)

  • Chewing gum (Disney doesn’t sell gum on property)

  • Wallet (cash or credit cards for purchasing food, souvenirs, etc)

  • Cellphone, camera

  • Bottled water

  • Pen and autograph book (to get character signatures!)

Honorable mention: Minnie Ears

Even adults get to have some dress up fun too!

Don’t Pack:

  • Selfie Stick: Disney doesn’t allow selfie sticks in their theme parks (they cause issues on the rides). If you pack one and security finds it in your bag, it will be taken from you.

The rest is pretty straightforward; no weapons, alcoholic beverages, folding chairs, etc. For a full list check out this link: https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en_CA/park-rules/

Bag tips:

  • Take a bag that closes (either with a zipper or snap top) so items can’t fall out (i.e. a back pack or over the shoulder bag).

  • Don’t over pack your bag, as you will need to either put it at your feet or fit it into a pocket on the rides.

  • Try not to bring in a bag that is too big or has a lot of compartments. When you go through security, the guards look into your bag and open every pocket. They also ask to see down to the bottom of the bag. To save time in this process, it’s best to use as small a bag as possible.
