Hyatt Ziva Cancun Review

In November 2016, I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva Cancun for a week for a family wedding and this resort is amazing! I have stayed in many all inclusive resorts with a 4 star and above rating and the Hyatt Ziva Cancun is by far the nicest resort that I have ever stayed in.

The pool areas and beaches are pristine, and the staff is very attentive. The rooms are beautiful and had everything we needed. Originally booking this trip, we were put back by the price, but after being there I can tell you that it was worth the cost.

The food was delicious, there were tons of options for dining, and even though the official word is that the a la carte restaurants are very dressy that was not the case. Guys could wear shorts and a collared shirt in most places (no pants required). The resort doesn’t require you to make dinner reservations; which was a good and a bad thing. The good thing about it is you never worried about having to leave the pool to go get ready for a dinner reservation. The bad thing is that when you are in a large group (like we were, most night there were 10 of us wanting to eat together) we always had to wait to be seated. Usually we had at least a 40 minute wait to get into an a la carte restaurant. But by mid week we got wise and would send someone down around 6pm to make a reservation for later in the evening. We really enjoyed the eating at the Hibachi grill in the Asian restaurant (our chef put on a great show!) and Chevy’s had delicious comfort foods. Tres Cervais (their own brewery) was a great place in the evenings as they have pool tables, live music, and every sports game on tv. The 24-hour room service was delicious!

For people who like to venture off the resort, the Hyatt Ziva Cancun is in a great location for that. We were about a 5-minute walk from what we called “Little Las Vegas”. Coco Bongo, Senior Frogs, other bars, shopping, it was all right there. The location itself felt very safe and it was actually a nice walk to the entertainment.

The hotel also has their own dolphins onsite for guests to have a dolphin experience (for an additional fee). We really enjoyed interacting with the dolphins! We also ventured off site to the Rivera Golf and Resort for a round of golf. It’s a beautiful course but very fancy. Proper golf attire is required. We also went to Xplor for zip lining and swimming in caves and it was so much fun! It is an all day experience which feels like you are at a theme park and you are busy the whole time.

The only bad thing I have to say about the Hyatt Ziva Cancun is that because of its location, on the tip of Cancun, it’s windy, very windy. The wind speed would vary throughout the day, but you were never without wind. Most days it wasn’t really an issue, it was just something you got used to.

Overall, I loved it and would go back in a heartbeat!
